I put the snaps on these two cuffs yesterday, and have a couple more to finish up and share with you this week (one is being sassy and I need to have a talk with it... sigh)

Mini Mandala!
I just posted this in the ol' etsy shop, and realized I hadn't shown you guys yet! This purse was inspired by the paper I wrote for teacher training on mandalas. Using them as a meditative tool to help yourself focus, meditate more thoroughly and feel better in general. This bag was one of my many experiments into mandala mediums, it was such a joy to create. Letting the tools "pick themselves" as I worked my way around the circle. I didn't measure anything out as I tooled, letting my eye guess the distance between hammer strikes. I love how it turned out, and am excited to learn who it belongs to.
I love this shape, and will be revisiting it again soon I think...

A cuff for Karla
My dear friend asked me to make something with this pretty green, victorian-DNA bead she'd had for a looong time, never knowing what to do with it.
So I did something.
And we both love it! It's totally Super Woman, isn't it?!?
I have another purse to show you, stay tuned!

Petals in bloom
I am so satisfied with this piece. I can't wait to explore this idea of dimensionality in leather further! I'm seeing layers and layers and rivets and colorful stitches. Thank you, dearest muse, you've been kind these months.
This sweet cuff will make her debut at the Spring Fling, and if she doesn't find her home there, you'll see her in the etsy shop!

One for you...
This is my newest concept... Bringing dimension to leather, layering pieces, riveting up a storm... I love rivets.
It is not finished yet, but I wanted to share an almost done piece. I usually imagine the layout of things in my head, rarely drawing things past what I'll need to trace onto the leather... It leads to some pretty interesting mistakes and surprising successes. So far, this piece has been the latter. I think it needs a few more rivets, the leaves poke out a bit too much for my taste when it's wrapped around a wrist... There's no such thing as too many rivets, right??

Two for me...
Here are two of my most favorite pieces yet. I'm making similar things for you out there right now, but these, as the first realizations of the ideas, are mine. I usually keep the first in a series... That way I can always look back at where I started from, and see where I've come to.
I save things, always have. I still have paintings from preschool in Connecticut tucked away in my mom's house. Swaths of color, many with a small fuzzy bunny sticker popped on it. A title on the back, dictated by my little self, Mom's handwriting, which is cropping up in my own style more and more these days... Do you see your parents' handwriting in your own? Depending on the day, I usually pen notes in a strange combination of both of my parent's style. It's interesting, considering they look NOTHING alike!
wow. tangent!

On to the goodies...
I need to find more stones that are big enough for this... I also need to relearn how to bezel set stones.
Full of strength. This is the honkin'est piece of jewelry I have ever made. I love it.
Have a wonderful, tea filled, happy Sunday!

Home, and some work
The new wood floor is peeking through, didn't they do a great job?
The china cabinet, all full of old and pretty things. (See the purple front door in the background? My fuchsia door is it's daughter.
The greeter. I love him, want to steal him.
The big dipper to help you find your way home... I kind of want to embroider the star lines, what do you think? A silvery thread would be used. Or is it good and simple the way it is now?
The manatee. I want to swim with them someday. I've made a second one, the leather in this one wasn't a good choice on my part, it's not sturdy as I'd like it.
I have a few more cuffs to photograph, some to stain and paint and snapify. They'll be up here & in the shop soon. I love the winter, but this whole lack of daylight is killing my photo time!

The thoughts of the day
I'm tired. I was victim to the Ick last week, and I'll spare you the details, but I'm still not 100%. The drainage is awe-striking in its determination to stick around. Sigh. I get sick so rarely, I forget how much time it takes for my body to righten itself after going all wonky-like.
Either way, I started tooling a new belt last night before I went to yoga (which helped SO much!)
But the more importantly, the belt is for someone out there who is not me! I'm very excited to present a woven belt on my etsy shop, the one I made myself (as most prototypes are) is very special to me. I hope that once this beauty is finished, you'll find it just as lovely and soul strengthening as I find mine.
In the mean time, this cuff will hit the shop this weekend, I just need to measure it so you can make sure it fits you... It's small on me, so I'm guessing it runs somewhere around a 7 to 6.5" wrist. (yes, I apparently have MONSTER wrists... and fingers, but hey, it has some advantages!)
hope you have a wonderful night. Love you all!

I've been working! Really!
I set a snap! Hooray!!!! Thanks to some lovely advice from this fabulous lady, I bought the right setting tool and can't wait to get the back logs of ideas out of my head and onto leather! ( do go visit, she has a sale and a contest going on right now!)
This baby is the tester, I think she looks a bit like a sea horse, don't you think?
This cuff will be finished soon, I have to sew the flower on, cut it out, and set the snap! YAY SNAPS!
And here's a little fox, the photo is crappy, I know, but I'm very excited about him! And his brother, he got a daytime scene! I'll take better photos this weekend and pop them into the shop!
Hope you're having a wonderful evening! It's raining right now, I love the sound of raindrops on leaves, but I do hope the wind doesn't get too crazy!
