The Daisies are Done.

She loves it. It fits her perfectly (in both body & spirit). Also, I love sending things to the states next door, the packages arrive so quickly!

I've enjoyed this custom project so much, and am looking forward to doing more (a UFO belt is coming in the future - can't wait!)

Custom Belt for K.

I've been working on a few commissioned pieces lately. It is always interesting working with someone else to get to the finish. Luckily for me, this belt was given a wild card, and I think I've started to capture the mix of hippie and cowgirl this woman embodies.

Time for color!

Sketchbook on a Saturday

Painted last night...

I've been thinking about tall spaces lately...

Sketchbook and plans for a purse

I was also getting ready for the leather stamping class I'm teaching on Sunday, hence the snap spillage

...and after the very long day, the girl took a long bath and ate an oatmeal cookie. Then wandered to her room, and made new earrings. It was good.

New work!

I put the snaps on these two cuffs yesterday, and have a couple more to finish up and share with you this week (one is being sassy and I need to have a talk with it... sigh)

Saturday's Sketch

I love the way the sun streams in under the clouds, hitting the trees with golden light.  Everything looks like it has been painted into the air.

Emerald Hollow Mine

Sketchbook Saturday

I have so many doodles, thoughts and color experiments locked up in my sketchbooks, I thought sharing a page or two every week would be a good project for me.  Some won't be in chronological order, of course (what's the fun in that?).  Sometimes you'll see the designs I've put down on paper show up on leather, other times I'm just getting movement and color onto the page.  The pages in my books are meditations and explorations.
This  page was drawn to be colored, and then I challenged myself to use only warm tones.

Fourteen

What else could I have made for my only little sister?

Could someone please explain how she's 14 already?!? Yikes!

And they fit perfectly! Whew!

Blue Lotus Clutch

Finis

So many lovely hours spent tooling, painting, and constructing.

This sweet clutch was built over several months, in a time where things got beautiful and hard and down right sad.  It's good to finally have finished her. She deserves a good home.

A little, blurry shot of my newly organized studio, complete with buddies.

Summer wool

Remember this wool? Well, after a few nights of tredling, a movie of plying, a quick bath and drip dry- I've made yarn.  Once again, this natural magic amazes my hands and calms my heart.

The yarn is made up of different sheeps' wool, from a study I did years ago.  Long enough that I don't know exactly who is in this blend... Some Shetland for sure, maybe Polypay and Icelandic... Either way, it's thick and thin, soft and warm.

Warm is not something I'm trying to do right now, summer is upon us here in North Carolina. I'm thinking about adding this to the shop... I have so much yarn, more than I know what to do with.  If it's singing your name, let me know and we can work something out. I'd rather give you lovely people first dibs on everything I make.

These Hosta blooms is the reason I know summer is here. I didn't know they bloomed until I moved here, I love their tall, lavender petals.

This is a test

I'm posting a few items over here:

What do you think of Big Cartel?  Does Etsy have your heart, or do you prefer another site?

Photo personality

The ugly factory strap finally met its match. My camera and I are much happier now. Bright colors lined with navy blue and silver rivets.

Have you customized your strap?

Also, when I was making the strap, I never considered how tricky it would be to photograph it in action... Enter the fancy phone to the rescue!

Sick day

Laying on the couch became bothersome, but I wasn't well enough to work on anything requiring thought, precision, craft.

A pile of newly batted wool.

Treading back and forth.

Yarn in the making.

Still moving

Still trying to create (it is starting to come back to me)

Still chasing the light across the room (and how long it lasts now!)

I missed this place.
