a night in

Just me, a new candle, party-time eucalyptus, and my mom's old watercolors.

The Lotus

As the lotus opens, so does the soul. In layers, petal by petal, the center is revealed.

Saturday Teaing

I love my Saturday mornings. I can wake without an alarm, make eggs and tea. Puttering about putting pieces of the house back in order - today it was one corner of the kitchen. And perhaps the fridge will get cleaned out too.  Eventually I'll be teaching yoga to some beautiful souls and then who knows what... I love my full mornings and unplanned days.

This teacup came home with me after the Metrolina antique show last month, darling, no?  I may have to collect a few more... I've filled her with this chai, it is so easy and delicious. I added nutmeg and cinnamon to the list of spices, and left out the peppercorns.

Have a beautiful day! Happy December!

The Big One

A day at the Metrolina antique fair is a good day. I came home with a wee teacup and saucer, tired legs and a happy head.

I had every intention of "working" in the studio on Thursday. Getting things done, crossing lines off The List. Out of the corner of my eye, I realized that part of my studio could maybe use a bit of a tidy. Then the other corner called out, and next thing I knew, hours had passed, leather scraps and paper bits had been scooped up, trash thrown out, books put away.  A clean studio. Just the kind of work I needed to do, but hadn't realized yet. As I sat in my cozy brown chair, soaking in how big the room felt now, the light in the yarn cupboard caught my eye. Nothing like well-lit hand-spun yarn, is there?

Now, I'm off to teach a meditation class, followed up by tea and a yoga class - in that order.  Have a beautiful weekend!  Happy November!

Leather and flowers

This last one is a wee wallet. Perfect for those who prefer to travel lightly.

Mom's autumn garden

I went home two weekends ago. It was lovely (that was when we went apple picking).  I stole outside to take some photos of some pieces I have made, but was quickly distracted by the last flowers...

Sunday scones

apples
 flour
 sugar
 cinnamon
What else could one do with freshly picked apples, tea, and a quiet morning?

adapted from the smitten kitchen.
(Mine came out a bit wet & runny, so I made scone cake instead of individual bits.
