Working

I'm making something so soul-happy, I can hardly believe it. It's a bag. I've made them before, but this one... this one is leather. The dark, chocolate-purple body is lined with the happiest of fabrics (to be photographed soon, promise) It will be riveted together with nickle colored rivets with the help of my pretty red rivet press.

The flap is tooled leather. It has my primroses on it... I love it already.

I just need to finish the flap, and choose a buckle and hardware for the strap... and then rivet-mania and boomkaboom, I will have a monstrously wonderful way to carry my things.

Whee!

New hair!

Excuse the hair under my eye... I accidentally deleted the rest of the photos! You get the idea though, short, sassy, EASY!

Carolina...

I'm afraid it is nearly summer here.  I much prefer the cooler seasons, and if it weren't for the pollen, would heartily enjoy the spring. But I stood still and started to sweat this evening. Humidity's enveloping blanket can't be far off now... It is time for a summer haircut, hopefully next week.  Fingers crossed for a shaggy, longish pixie cut.

It is time for crisp, dry hard ciders and drinks with plenty  of ice. For skirts, sunscreen, dresses, sunglasses, sandals, and more ice. It is good to live in a place with four distinct seasons, though the transitions may be subtle, once we're there, we're here.

I am listening to Wanda Jackson's newest album, The Party Ain't Over. I had the enormous honor of seeing her play this Saturday, and Man O' Pete, can she ROCK. I believe, in all fullness that she is indeed the Queen of Rock, do yourself a favor, check her out. She will be an integral part of my summer soundtrack (and beyond) for sure. If you've been searching for the female answer to Rock n' Roll, look no further. I've found my used-record-search muse.

These necklaces will trickle slowly into the shop... let me know if one belongs to you, I'll be happy to answer questions and reserve a piece!

Yarn in the shower

I'm amazed. I have to dye more yarn.
WHY can't the days be just a tad shorter on the office side and longer in the fun work side?

Some sewing

We were getting a tad leather heavy there for a moment. Not at all a bad thing, but I realized the other day, I've been neglecting my other mediums. Might I take this moment to introduce you to the brightest, must fun blanket I've ever had the pleasure of having in my home?
She's made up of bits and bobs from fabric giveaways at work! The photo's not the best, I took it in the evening... Really should take it in the morning, this room (the guest/sewing room) faces due east and the morning sun is glorious.  The back is all polkadotted, and I love it just as much as the top.

Petals in bloom

I am so satisfied with this piece.  I can't wait to explore this idea of dimensionality in leather further! I'm seeing layers and layers and rivets and colorful stitches. Thank you, dearest muse, you've been kind these months.

I love the way the leaves start to look like wings, carrying the flower off on some fragrant breeze...

This sweet cuff will make her debut at the Spring Fling, and if she doesn't find her home there, you'll see her in the etsy shop!

Spring Fling!

Here's a small preview of what's coming with me
leather-wise to Noda Yoga's first Spring Fling!

You don't have to even want to do yoga to come in and enjoy a lovely handful of local artists- just show up around 1 or so, we'll be there until 4:00 ish.  Though, if you do, please call the lovely ladies and let them know, it should be lovely out on Sunday, and the class is being held outside!

(I say we because my mom & her Stuart are coming for the weekend, and they'll most likely be making an appearance at my wee table with me as well!  Hooray!!! )

Working on the shell

Here are some in progress shots of the Nautilus shell headband I showed you last week.  The hydrangeas above are a head band that really should be worn more... I finally made one for myself! I have a small pile of things that need to be photographed, and soon! Noda Yoga is having their spring fling next weekend and I'm going to be there with a whole bunch of leather and clay goodies (buttons & tiles) and who knows what else... I think some felt flower hair pins will come too... Oh, there I go again, sorry for the babble, on to the photos!!

More to come on the spring fling, in the meantime, check out the details here
